COMPANY: 3 SUISSES (CLUB DES CREATEURS DE BEAUTE)
MARKET: MAIL-ORDER SALES / EBUSINESS
COUNTRY: FRANCE

"Le club des créateurs de beauté", a mail-order company that sells cosmetics, has set up an entirely automated system in its order preparation and shipping centre in the north of France, including the erection of corrugated board cases, document insertion, order picking, closing of cases and sorting towards the different loading bays.
Three FCO 140 multisection cases erectors, each with a capacity of 35 cases/min, are installed at the head of the line to erect the packaging (4 different heights). Each box is then routed to another station which adds the invoice corresponding to the bar code on the box. Unstacking machines put catalogues and advertising brochures in different languages into the boxes according to the country of destination.
The boxes are then routed to the two picking lines where the most popular goods are spread out evenly along the "stations". These are run by preparers who select the products according to a system of pilot lights and place them manually inside the boxes. Once the tissue paper has been placed on top of the products, the boxes are automatically closed by three Otor Systems closers, then upended before pasting on the shipping label.
They are then sent to the sorting ramps for routing to the loading bays. It should be noted that throughout the process, special stations deal with any technical incidents that may arise.
This centre, which became operational in September 2002, has resulted in a considerable gain in productivity, allowing "Club des créateurs de beauté" to continue its expansion.
